Reaching the right parts ‒ BASF flexible, high-performance and cost-effective dispersions and additives for dip coating
How can you obtain smooth, consistent coatings on items that are full of curves, corners and crannies? BASF dispersions promote even coverage and allow adjustable layer thickness.
Dip coating is the process of choice for irregularly shaped or complex parts that do not lend themselves to spray, powder, or other widely used coating methods. The benefits of dip coating include low cost, highly efficient processing lines, and minimal waste, since any excess paint simply drips back into the dip tank and can be used in the next application round.
BASF dispersions for dip coatings have an important advantage: They have a rheology profile at low shear that allows you to achieve the desired film thickness. Acronal® PRO 7600, for example, is a styrene acrylic dispersion used in dip coating formulations designed to protect metal that requires moderate corrosion resistance. It adheres well to steel and galvanized substrates and is suitable for both thin and thick films. In primer applications, it is stable in the presence of active anticorrosion pigments and Cr-VI salts. If you require enhanced anticorrosion performance, we recommend Acronal® PRO 780.
In addition to dispersions for primers we also offer dispersions for topcoats such as Joncryl® OH 8300 (hydroxyl no. 42) and Joncryl® OH 8301 (hydroxyl no. 135), which can be crosslinked with amino resins or blocked isocyanates.
By using BASF formulation additives, customers can further refine their formulations.
